Well…. its been a while since i last updated my blog, nether the less a lot of crazy shenanigans and a lot of mind changing activities have gone down in the past 6 months, relation ships ending, moving to other parts of the world, surfing crazy waves and ending up living in the heavily populated part of Indonesia, BALI!!
Firstly i would like to say im kinda disappointed in myself for not keeping on top of my Blog but from now on some nice, readable, sick, surfing and funny posts will be updated once a week without failure.
Here's a little bit of info of my first week in Bali with a few shots from the first Month…
More Stories and shots to come next week!
Well there i am sitiing in London heathrow waiting to jet off, only slightly un- relived that im only a quarter of the way through getting to Bali. This was due to the fact that i had to mission from Newcastle to London with 6 surfboards and a suitcase, walking on and off trains, getting on the tube during rush hour and to top it off half of the population of london are Polish so i had about 3 of them standing and tripping over my boards. However all anger and frustration was over once i got through security and waiting at my gate
After a long 24h of travelling i landed in Denpasar after passing through Doha and then after singapore and eventually Bali (Denpasar). I got in a taxi and arrived at Suka Beach Inn, a hotel which my friends told me is very cheap but watch out for what lurks around in the rooms…. Lying in bed i just couldn't sleep so i met up with some friends and smashed a night out in the famous sky garden club.
Day 1
Waking up i was kind of spaced out due to heat on a hangover, the jet lag and just the chear business of the place, walking through the streets almost being run over 10 times in the space of an hour. I decided to hire a moped got my boards ready and went to meet up with a my friend Jayce. Once finding him he stuck me straight in the deep end driving through all the nuts and cranny s, we went to the bucket of Bali to surf as it picked up all the swell. We rocked up at 3-4ft offshore perfection. Getting used to the fact i wasn't in a 6.5.4mm wetty with boots, gloves and hoods was kind of mind blowing.
Day 2
Waking up feeling fresh for once after the past 48h barely sleeping, i had my banana pancake and fruit salad and set off to surf. The swell had dropped a little therefore we went to serangan, a small reef break where a lot of the surf schools take the beginners. Besides the crowds the waves were 2ft and clean, we surfed 2 times and almost being accused for murder for the amount of times almost hitting the beginners in the white water. After surfing all day we headed back to Kuta, driving through Kuta i realised the amount of people that were wearing Bintang wife beaters and shorts, it was almost as common as Chavs wearing tracky bottoms and nike airmax's in the centre of Newcastle.
Day 3
After 2 days in Kuta i decided to get out of this place and head to an island 1h flight away with my friend and his family. We headed to the airport to book a flight for the next day, i was shocked when it only costs £60 return.
Once we had booked up we went for a quick surf, all excited to head away from bali , we slowly went there to pass the time. Again surf was pumping, we surfed a right hander called Keramas. The drive there however is hideous it took an hour to get there and i had managed to eat my lunch at the same time ( fly's, beetles and dengue ridden mosquitos). After our surf we thought its going to be our last night in civilisation before we head to the jungle so we decided to have a little night out, in my case a big night. I ended up talking to a very sexy Norweigen girl only to realise they were everywhere to be seen……..
Day 4
This morning my mind was blank but all i remember was being hungover, almost missing my flight, being sore in certain areas and having pictures taken on my phone of a naked lady in my bed room. Epic night it must have been! Sitting on the small propelled trying to recollect last night we stetted off for Sumbawa Island. Once we arrived our driver met us and we drove to Lakey peak, driving over goats, chicken and through very cultural villages, we rocked up and i almost fainted when i looked at the line up. It was heaving 4-6 ft barrels and about 8-9 people out. We quickly got into our room and headed out there. Once getting out there the wind had turned and i almost had a mental breakdown as there were no more barrels to be seen. That night we sat down at dinner where all the locals were really friendly, and where i thought to myself " im so glad about last night" i was thinking this because there was not one woman to be found and if there was it wasn't really in my standards book. This was mind daunting for a genuine sex pest!
Day 5
We woke up nice and early, magicseaweed (AKA magic wank weed) had told us it was supposed to drop right off so we wernt so rushed to check it, but when we did it was unreal! We ran back, finned up, got our local filmer ready and paddled out.
I was late on paddling out, so when i paddled through the channel i just saw my friend Jayce pulling into this 6ft barreling offshore mental keg and just getting spat out where i claimed it for him.. once i got out back i could see the perfect set coming through and when it did was on it pulling in and as it came over the top of me i was just thinking to myself, i am so happy that i got through travelling from newcastle to Bali without a mental breakdown, because all of that experience was worth it for the barrels we got that day. I would say that day i had umpteen barrels in the morning, lunch and evening and it was like having 3 roast dinners in one day only Indo style.
Here are some pics fromt the first week...
